چکیده
In this issue of The Journal , Liew, et al present a cross-sectional study comparing the 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk score in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) versus general US population. Their hypothesis was that diagnosis axSpA would be associated higher ASCVD1. They studied participating 2 different cohort studies (followed at University California, San Francisco, and Texas Houston Health Science Center). Altogether, cohorts included both radiographic axSpA/ankylosing spondylitis (AS) nonradiographic axSpA. Patients were followed prospectively regular data collections. ASCVD scores calculated for aged 40–75 years without history available measures blood pressure laboratory cholesterol. Individuals from National Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) used as comparator group matched 4:1 to according age, sex, race. After calculating NHANES group, authors subsequently compared prevalence ratio ≥ 7.5% between first whole then AS (sensitivity analyses). The found neither increased nor controls; finding contrast their have scores. As an explanation finding, suggest may underpowered find true difference risk. Cardiovascular disease risk profiles in inflammatory joint disease entities
BACKGROUND Patients with inflammatory joint diseases (IJD) have increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Our aim was to compare CVD risk profiles in patients with IJD, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and evaluate the future risk of CVD. METHODS The prevalence and numbers of major CVD risk factors (CVD-RFs) (hypertension...
متن کاملAssociation of Chest Pain and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease with Coronary Atherosclerosis in Patients with Inflammatory Joint Diseases
OBJECTIVES The relation between chest pain and coronary atherosclerosis (CA) in patients with inflammatory joint diseases (IJD) has not been explored previously. Our aim was to evaluate the associations of the presence of chest pain and the predicted 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) by use of several CVD risk algorithms, with CA verified by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) c...

INTRODUCTION The aim was to study the association between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) levels and the clinical characteristics of patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases (CIRD). METHODS We studied a cross-section from the baseline visit of the CARMA project (CARdiovascular in rheuMAtology), a 10-year prospective study evaluating the risk of cardiovascular events in rheumatoid a...
